While many of us were reliant on the spy shots of a prototype that resembled a KTM 390 Adventure to fuel our dreams of a smaller capacity KTM Adventure, the Austrian company never officially announced its existence. However, KTM has finally announced via a press release that the KTM 390 adventure is coming to India next year. This comes at a time when BMW Motorrad just announced bookings open for theĀ G 310GS in India. The launch of the eagerly-anticipated KTM 390 Adventure is scheduled for early 2019 in the Indian market after its expected reveal at the EICMA show this November.

Its arrival in Nepal is yet to be announced, but if it does come to Nepal we still have a very long wait at hand. The KTM 390 Adventure will be the smallest adventure motorcycle from the manufacturer which will be sold alongside the Duke and RC range. It will take design inspiration from the flagship 1290 Super Adventure.

Mechanically, the KTM 390 Adventure will get the same 373.2cc engine as seen on the Duke 390. This single cylinder, liquid cooled engine makes 44 PS power and 35 Nm torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The 390 Adventure is being projected as a middle-weight dual-sport machine with some state-of-the-art packages and it will be butting heads with the RE Himalayan, as well as the upcoming BMW G 310GS.

While the adventure motorcycle segment is a niche market, it is gaining traction quickly in the Indian market. Although fully faired sports bikes are highly popular in Nepal, the growing demands of off-road motorcycle certainly hint at the high potential of the adventure motorcycle segment. Judging by what KTM-Bajaj have brought to the market, there are high expectations resting on the 390 Adventure.
